Miss Gabi
Since the age of 2, Gabi has been training in different types of dance including tap, ballet, variety, hip-hop, lyrical, musical theatre, and jazz. Dance has always played a huge role in her life; she has been creating and performing dances at every opportunity she has been given! Gabi has performed in a multitude of recitals, parades, charity events, and festivals and has earned several awards and scholarships in various styles of dance. Aside from dance, she was an active member of the choir and musical theatre programs at her school. She performed in choir for 9 years and participated in theatre for 6 years. Gabi has enjoyed being part of a drama improv team, and she has played various roles in plays and musicals such as Cinderella, Peter Pan, Spamalot, Alice in Wonderland, Matilda and A Mid-Summer Night’s Dream. In her graduating year, she was one of three actors in This is a Play, for which they were awarded first place at the One Act Zone Competition. She also helped choreograph dances for many of these shows. In 2020, she was thrilled to choreograph and teach the dances for a junior high school production of The Wizard of Oz. Miss Gabi was kept super busy this summer, as she had the exciting opportunity to perform in a play at the Fringe Festival! This Fall, Gabi is thrilled to continue her Bachelor of Fine Arts with a focus on Drama for her third year at the University of Alberta.
Outside of her local dance studio training, Gabi has taken classes with Broadway performers, both online and in person, learning choreography from cast members of Broadway shows such as Hamilton, Newsies, Hairspray, Beautiful, and Matilda. She has also participated in online tap classes with the New York Tap Crew through Retter Entertainment. In 2019, she attended the week-long drama program, Artstrek, at the Red Deer College. By working through the musical Les Miserables, she learned and experienced the intricacies and many aspects involved in creating a musical theatre production. Gabi has also participated in online dance teacher training, learning techniques and teaching strategies from advanced teachers across America. Miss Gabi has assistant taught in different dance classes and has taught for four years at The Heart of Dance. Miss Gabi can’t wait to inspire her students with her enthusiasm for dance!
