Mr Kodah – Musical Theatre, Jazz, Tap
From the town of Edson, Kodah started dancing at 6 years old when his mom enrolled him in his first Hip Hop class. He instantly fell in love with dance, and he soon ended up taking as many styles as possible, including Hip Hop, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Contemporary, Musical Theatre, and Acro. At 13, he was given a special role and the opportunity to experience the other side of dance class as an assistant teacher for younger students learning Jazz, Lyrical, and Contemporary. Over his twelve years as a dance student, he received numerous scholarships and various high-achieving awards, for not only his participation in group dances, but for many of his solos as well, including winning the top soloist trophy at final festival Showcases twice! After so many incredible years of learning, performing, and competing with an amazing team and teachers, he can’t wait to share his love and knowledge of dance with the students he will be teaching at The Heart of Dance!
In addition to dance, Kodah has also performed in several school musicals and one-act plays, including Shrek, Alice in Wonderland, Madagascar, Mamma Mia, and High School Musical. In his school drama classes, he was honoured to have often been asked to assist with creating choreography as well as helping to teach the many dance routines to other students.
Kodah is currently in the third year of his Honours Bachelor of Science Degree in Neuroscience at the University of Alberta, with the hope of attending medical school in the future. In his spare time, he loves to bake, paint, read, spend time with his four cats, and laugh with his friends and family.
He is so excited to head into his second year of teaching at The Heart of Dance!
