Miss Gabi (BFA) – Musical Theatre, Tap
Since the age of 2, Miss Gabi has been training in different types of dance including tap, ballet, variety, hip-hop, lyrical, musical theatre, and jazz. Dance has always played a huge role in her life; she has been creating and performing dances at every opportunity she has been given! She has choreographed and assistant choreographed multiple theatre productions. Miss Gabi has performed in a multitude of recitals, parades, charity events, and festivals and has earned several awards and scholarships in various styles of dance. Outside of her local dance studio training, she has taken classes with Broadway performers, both online and in person, learning choreography from cast members of Broadway shows such as Hamilton, Newsies, Hairspray, Beautiful, and Matilda. She has also participated in online tap classes with the New York Tap Crew through Retter Entertainment. Miss Gabi has also participated in online dance teacher training, learning techniques and teaching strategies from advanced teachers across America.
Miss Gabi holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting from the University of Alberta where she has had training in acting, voice, movement, singing, clown, fight, and film. Her love of the arts has expanded into devising, producing, teaching, and performing. She’s had the honour of performing in festivals such as the Edmonton Fringe Festival, NextFest, Common Ground Arts Festival, New Works and has worked at the Fringe Festival and at Artstrek, a summer theatre school for teens. Gabi has worked both on the stage and on screen with a love for physical theatre. She has a passion for Canadian clowning, often creating and performing her own work. Some of her recent theatre credits include Deserters by Ken Williams, Tartuffe by Molière, The Moors by Jen Silverman (Studio Theatre), Splattered! by Lily Davies (NextFest), fold. created by Sable B. Boltz and Gabi Stachniak (MileZero Dance), Cats and Other Miscellaneous Pleasures by Angie Bustos (Common Ground Arts Festival).
Miss Gabi can’t wait to return to the Heart of Dance for her 6th year as a teacher. Miss Gabi can’t wait to inspire her students with her enthusiasm for performance!
